Sculpture by the Sea

Last Saturday I went to the Sculpture By The Sea. In case you don't know, Sculpture By The Sea is a outdoor exhibition that has been running since 1997. The Sculptures are placed all along the Bondi to Tamarrama Walk in Sydney, Australia.

This year, as always, there were many sculptures that I liked. A cubby house fashioned entirely out of kids toys, a mechanical horse, giant dominoes in the process of knocking each other down, what looks like an imploding crate, aluminium houses, a wooden tribe, shoes made out of sand and a solar powered building.

Of course there were the ones that I didn't like as well, or in some cases just didn't get. Like the kangaroo road kill which I will not post because it sickens me. Over all I liked the exhibition. It closes this Sunday so get down there if you can.

I Absolutely Adored this!

Gives a whole new meaning to Sand Shoes.

On Friday the 30th of October A Flash Mob came to Bondi dancing to the sounds of local Ben Lee. Take a Look.

"A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, then quickly disperse."

The Flash Mob has taken the world by storm, with different Groups all over the world. From the Famous Frozen Grand Central Station done by Improv Everywear. There was the giant Pillow fight day that happened on March 22nd 2008 and the Thousands of people that Gathered in London to do a Giant Moon Walk. Even Companies have been cashing in on the Flash Mob Trend. U.K Mobile company T did an Dance Add, inspired by the Frozen Grand Central Stunt.

Flash Mob's go back further than you would think. In 1973 Larry Niven published a novel entitled "The Flash Crowd" describing a similar concept to Flash Mobbing. The first official flash mob was organised in 2003 by Bill Wasik (Senior Editor Harpers Magazine) Although Improv Everywhere says they have been running since 2001!

If you're interested you can join a Flash Mob Via one of their facebook groups, Twitter etc...

Comedia Del Arte

So today I had Drama. There is only two weeks until my Commedia Del Arte performance and I'm sooo not ready. I'm totally freaking out but it's all right because I always freak out about performance's and then they turn out great.

OOOOPS I hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Commedia Del Arte is an ancient Italian style of performance. All the characters wear masks. Except for the lovers who wear makeup and the mask/makeup is completely ridiculous. And all movement's are extremely exaggerated, almost beyond human possibility.

I'm Playing Zanni an extremely hungry, dumb and lowly servant to Pantalone a Sleazy old man character who's obsessed with money.

Here is Zanni's mask

Here's two good link's about commedia: http://www.magicofvenezia.com/servlet/the-template/maskstory/Page; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commedia_dell'arte
